Mitla Weaving & Mezcal Antiques

Breakfast of tamales and fruit in the car
Visit to the home of weavers, one who works with cotton on a 4 pedal loom making tablecloths, blanks, and pillowcase
Visit to the Mitla ruins (30 mins free time at the ruins, entrance fee included)
Lunch of local delicacies prepared by a cocinera tradicional in the home of an antiques dealer and local historian, accompanied by our selection of traditional mezcal
Visit to the home of an artisan who weaves on 4 pedal looms as well as backstrap looms, using cotton, wool and natural dyes, learning about the history of the community and Zapotec designs

Visit to a palenque in the home of a mezcal producer working with his sons to make micro batches of Minero mezcal for personal consumption and local sale

We visit a workshop of blacksmiths who have been making knive, swords, and machetes that have used in mezcal production in the region for 4 generations. The workshop is famous for having made the sword used in the movie Conan the Barbarian. We´ll learn about the old fashioned process they still use to make their pieces.
